Update on the Subaru Freeskiing World Tour at Moonlight Basin
It wasn’t long ago that we were super stoked to announce the Subaru Freeskiing World Tour making its way to our lovely mountain. While we have been getting plenty of snow here at the mountain and the terrain is skiing well, portions of the competition venue are experiencing less than ideal conditions. After much consideration the Subaru Freeskiing World Tour Qualifier here at Moonlight Basin will be postponed until March 22-25 in order to guarantee the best possible conditions for the event.
“It’s been a strange, meager year in much of the west, and has forced us to wait for the much needed storms,” says Event Director Bryan Barlow. ”Unfortunately, the venue is not holding as much snow as we need to make this terrain competition ready. The quality of the event wouldn’t be what we had envisioned without the proper coverage. Postponing until March will allow for the conditions that our athletes need to ski it to its full potential.”
Since this new date is following the Championships at Snowbird in 2012, athletes and unknown athletes, both local and national will be skiing for a qualifying spot in the 2013 Freeskiing World Tour. For those not participating in the competition, come enjoy the exciting atmosphere, get a firsthand look at freeskiing at its finest, and make some turns of your own on our 2,720 feet of lift serviced vertical terrain.
